Rondo Energy has launched a 100 MWh industrial heat storage facility in California, using solar power to heat bricks to over 1,500°C and deliver precise, zero-emission industrial heat via AI-controlled air flow. The system, powered by a 20 MW solar array, replaces fossil fuel boilers without modifying existing infrastructure, reducing emissions by 13,000 tons annually and supporting compliance with California’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard. Though currently used for oil recovery—drawing environmental criticism—the technology enables clean heat for sectors like cement and dairy, with plans to expand in Europe and globally. The system offers high efficiency, safety, and scalability, marking a major step toward decarbonizing industrial heat, which accounts for a quarter of global energy use.
