Michael Doan has been named permanent Fire Chief of the Little Rock Fire Department, succeeding interim leadership since July 2025.
Selected from 70 applicants, Doan, a 22-year department veteran and former assistant chief, was appointed by Mayor Frank Scott Jr. and the City Board of Directors on October 17, 2025.
He pledged to improve emergency services, ensure equitable response across neighborhoods, and support firefighters.
His appointment follows a contract extension with the firefighters’ union, including 5% raises through 2027, and a $25,000 donation to the “Love Your Firefighters” initiative.
