Italy to aid Bangladesh in fire investigations and security cooperation.

Italy has pledged technical assistance and training to Bangladesh to improve fire incident investigations, following a bilateral meeting in Rome on October 16, 2025, between Bangladesh’s Home and Agriculture Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury and Italy’s Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi. The talks focused on enhancing cooperation in combating human trafficking, financial crimes, and irregular migration, with both nations agreeing to hold joint security dialogues, share intelligence, conduct joint operations, and establish a task force to support trafficking victims. Plans were also discussed to sign a Mutual Legal Assistance Agreement and an extradition treaty, while boosting forensic capabilities and asset recovery efforts. The meeting was described as a significant step forward in strengthening bilateral ties.
