A Hudson County jail officer was arrested for allegedly supplying K2 to an inmate, part of a broader drug ring uncovered in a summer investigation.
A Hudson County corrections officer, Marquis Santiago, 33, was arrested and charged with distributing K2 inside the Kearny jail between January and April 2025, along with inmate Francisco Salcedo, 44, and Israel Rosado, 38, who face distribution and possession charges, respectively.
Civilian Alvin DeLeon, 31, of Bayonne, is also charged with conspiracy to distribute K2.
Authorities say Santiago supplied the synthetic drug to Salcedo, who distributed it within the facility, with DeLeon assisting.
The investigation, led by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office and corrections internal affairs units, stemmed from a summer probe that resulted in the seizure of over $70,000, 4 kilograms of cocaine, two handguns, and seven vehicles during raids in North Bergen, West New York, and Union City.
Santiago, previously charged in a separate cocaine case, and DeLeon were released pending court dates.
The department reaffirmed its commitment to safety and integrity.
