Grassley says Trump broke law firing inspectors general without notice, urging reversal of funding halt to oversight bodies.
Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) accused President Trump of breaking federal law by firing nearly two dozen inspectors general without the required 30-day congressional notice, calling the actions an overreach of authority.
Grassley, who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee, affirmed his support for a September court ruling that found Trump’s firings illegal, though the court did not order reinstatements.
He also urged OMB Director Russell Vought to reverse a decision to withhold funding for key oversight bodies CIGIE and PRAC, warning that halting payments would force furloughs and disrupt vital anti-fraud efforts despite Congress having already approved FY 2026 funding.
Grassley dice que Trump rompió la ley al despedir a los inspectores generales sin previo aviso, instando a revertir la suspensión de la financiación a los órganos de supervisión.
