Eight-year-old Logan Dorna of Ontario has a custom Blue Jays-themed prosthetic eye he wears for luck and confidence.
Eight-year-old Logan Dorna from Richmond Hill, Ont., has a custom prosthetic eye featuring a gold iris, baseball seams, and a hidden Toronto Blue Jays logo, which he wears during games believing it brings the team luck.
Diagnosed with retinoblastoma, a rare childhood eye cancer, at six months old, he had his affected eye removed but required no further treatment.
Created by ocularist Matthew Milne, the prosthetic moves in sync with his natural eye and is part of routine replacements every few years.
Logan, who recently began playing baseball despite monocular vision, says the eye boosts his confidence.
His family hopes his pride in the prosthetic inspires other children with visible differences to embrace their identities.
He continues annual checkups at SickKids Hospital and regular maintenance.
