Belize introduces new tobacco and e-cigarette laws to protect youth, following high usage rates among teens.
Belize’s Ministry of Health and Wellness has introduced a new Tobacco Control Bill targeting tobacco and e-cigarette use, especially among youth.
The bill, aligned with WHO standards, proposes banning sales to minors, requiring plain packaging with large health warnings, and restricting youth access.
With 15% of adolescents aged 13–15 using tobacco and 12% using e-cigarettes, the legislation aims to curb rising rates.
The bill will now move to committee for public consultations.
