Wisconsin hid 200+ teacher misconduct cases, sparking calls for reform and transparency.
Wisconsin’s Department of Public Instruction (DPI) has concealed over 200 teacher misconduct cases, including sexual misconduct and grooming, shielding educators from public scrutiny despite investigations.
Many accused teachers resigned without license revocation, citing insufficient evidence, while lawmakers and experts criticize DPI’s lack of transparency, outdated systems, and inadequate resources.
Lawmakers, including Assembly Education Chairman Joel Kitchens and Senators John Jagler and Romaine Quinn, are demanding accountability, calling for an independent investigation and new legislation to close loopholes allowing teachers to evade scrutiny.
They argue that the current practices endanger students and erode public trust in the education system.
