UK ends two-year Gaza surveillance mission after hostages released under US deal.
The UK has ended its two-year surveillance mission over Gaza, with the final flight on October 10, following the release of remaining Hamas-held hostages under a US-brokered agreement.
The unarmed Royal Air Force flights, which began in December 2023, were focused solely on locating hostages and shared only rescue-related intelligence with Israel, according to the Ministry of Defence.
Defence Secretary John Healey praised the mission’s role in securing the hostages’ return and restoring aid, calling it a step toward peace.
While pro-Palestinian groups raised concerns about potential military use of intelligence, the UK maintained strict controls and denied any combat involvement.
