Ringaskiddy's incinerator project cost has risen to €200M, with approval pending and construction set to start in 2025.
The Indaver incinerator project in Ringaskiddy, County Cork, has seen its projected cost rise to €200 million, up from an initial estimate of €160 million in 2016.
The updated application, submitted to An Coimisúin Pleanála, includes new environmental and biodiversity impact assessments following legal challenges, including a 2022 Supreme Court ruling and a 2024 High Court directive.
If approved, construction—expected to take 31 months—would begin, with the facility projected to open in 2030.
The plant would process 240,000 tonnes of waste annually, generate 21MW of electricity (18.5MW for the grid), create up to 320 construction jobs and 63 permanent positions, and fund local initiatives with €240,000 yearly.
Third parties can comment on the application until November 17.
