Residents in Ramsbottom launch community garden project to grow food and boost biodiversity.
Residents in Ramsbottom, Bury, have launched the Lancaster Roots project, the first initiative under Bury Council’s Right to Grow program, turning unused public land into a community food garden.
Led by Natasha Monaghan and Charmaine Jones, 15 neighbors plan to install raised beds, plant fruit trees, and build a wildlife pond to promote biodiversity and local food production.
The project, supported by Incredible Edible and Bury Council officials, aims to strengthen community ties and inspire similar efforts across the borough, with guidance available through Incredible Edible for interested residents.
