Patrick Lawlor seeks €10K in legal aid to value his seized Dublin home in a money laundering case.
Patrick Lawlor, a 59-year-old convicted bagman in a major money laundering case, has asked the Irish High Court for more legal aid—up to €10,000—to hire a surveyor to value his Dublin home, which the Criminal Assets Bureau seeks to seize.
Lawlor, sentenced in 2022 to seven years for laundering nearly €12 million, had €899,000 seized from his home.
His legal team says nine surveyors declined to participate, prompting the request, which was adjourned to November.
The case centers on assets acquired between 2010 and 2020, with Lawlor’s wife claiming she lives in the home and pays the mortgage with legitimate income.
Judge Melanie Greally noted Lawlor’s central role in the gang and the large cash and luxury assets found during the investigation.
