Over 8,000 Ghanaian teens got anti-drug education in a national campaign ahead of a festival, with health and community groups delivering supplies and eye care.
Over 8,000 high school students in Ghana’s Manya Krobo districts received drug abuse education in a weeklong campaign led by Lions and Rotary clubs, the FDA, and traditional leaders, warning of dangers from codeine, tramadol, cannabis, and shisha, with interactive sessions and giveaways.
The initiative, timed before the Ngmayem Festival, also included community broadcasts and a mental health walk, with officials proposing anti-drug clubs in schools.
Meanwhile, the Accra Golden Lions Club delivered 1,500 educational supplies to a rural school in Gomoa Central, supporting academic equity.
In another effort, two Accra Lions Clubs provided free eye care to over 120 people in Tesano, part of a national push to combat preventable blindness through community outreach and partnerships.
