Oregon and North Carolina host hazardous waste collection events on Oct. 25 and Nov. 1, respectively.
A free Household Hazardous Waste Roundup will be held on October 25, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Mohawk Valley Fire Station in Marcola, Oregon, accepting up to 35 gallons of household hazardous waste like paint, cleaners, chemicals, and electronics, but not empty containers, asbestos, or pressurized cylinders.
Pre-registration is required for businesses and nonprofits to avoid fees.
Electronics recycling is also available at multiple regional transfer stations.
In Sanford, North Carolina, a similar event is scheduled for November 1 at the Dennis Wicker Civic Center, open to Lee County residents and farmers, accepting hazardous materials in sealed containers, with no business waste allowed.
