On Friday, October 17, 2025, the "Red Radials" aerobatic group—featuring vintage aircraft from Russia and China—flew over Tamworth at 1,000 feet in a tribute to the city’s role in hosting the annual North and North West Air Crew reunion.
The flyover, following Peel Street toward Tamworth Airport, honored the event’s legacy that began in 1951.
Pilots from across Australia, including veterans and younger crew members, gathered for the weekend, which included a dinner, a memorial service for fallen comrades, and appearances by special guest ex-Navy Commodore Vince Di Pietro.
The aircraft, including a Russian military trainer and a Chinese Nanchang CJ6, were expected to depart shortly after midday on Sunday.
