Nineteen-year-old Newcastle soprano Layla Schillert is starring in Cirque Alice, a circus-musical adaptation of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, currently performing in Singapore.
The production, created by Simon Painter and Tim Lawson, combines acrobatics, music, and visual effects, marking a major career milestone for Schillert, who has performed in shows like PUFFS and Jersey Boys and placed in the top 50 on Australian Idol.
She is particularly excited by aerial singing sequences and aims to perform on Broadway and the West End, with roles like Glinda from Wicked and Alice as her goals.
The show premiered in Brisbane and will tour to Western Sydney’s Coliseum Theatre from December 24 to January 4.
