A Nigerian court ruled Osun State could sue over withheld funds, but case was dropped after money was released.
A Nigerian federal high court in Abuja dismissed challenges by the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Accountant-General of the Federation in a case over withheld funds to Osun State’s local governments.
The court ruled the state’s Attorney-General had legal standing to sue in the public interest and rejected claims of judicial bias or abuse of process.
The case was later withdrawn by Osun’s counsel after the funds were transferred out of the CBN, making further legal action unnecessary.
The court adjourned proceedings to October 17.
