New Zealand invests $8M in Methane Barn to reduce dairy cow emissions and develop low-methane genetics.
New Zealand has invested $8 million in the Methane Barn, a new research facility at LIC’s Waikato site, to monitor methane emissions from dairy cows and develop lower-methane genetics.
The project, part of a $400 million government and industry partnership, aims to deliver up to 11 commercial emission-reducing tools by 2030.
Agriculture Minister Todd McClay said the initiative will help farmers meet climate targets without sacrificing productivity, jobs, or farm viability.
The AgriZeroNZ board was expanded with two new directors, Simon Limmer and Murray Dyer, to strengthen the public-private effort.
