Nevada to create fuel resiliency subcommittee amid refinery closures and supply risks.
Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo has proposed creating a Fuel Resiliency Subcommittee to address the state’s heavy reliance on imported transportation fuels, mainly from California, amid planned refinery closures in 2025 and 2026.
The subcommittee, under the Nevada Commission on Homeland Security, will assess fuel supply risks, improve coordination with federal and private partners, and explore strategies to expand storage, diversify supply routes, and streamline permitting for infrastructure projects.
Its goal is to enhance energy security and prevent disruptions to the economy and emergency services, with recommendations due by 2026.
