A moose calf trapped in a Colorado skatepark was rescued and reunited with its mother.
A young moose calf became trapped in a deep concrete bowl at the Breckenridge Skatepark on October 16, 2025, after falling in and being unable to climb out. Responding to the incident, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, local police, and town officials coordinated a rescue using a winch and pulley system to safely lift the calf. The moose was sedated to prevent stress and injury, then released near a wooded area where its mother was observed nearby. Both animals were seen leaving the area safely. The event, believed to be the first of its kind, underscores growing challenges of wildlife entering urban recreational spaces. Officials urged the public to keep a safe distance from wild animals and report encounters.
