Malawi reshapes cabinet, merging ministries to boost efficiency and economic growth.
President Peter Mutharika has appointed Roza Fatch Mbilizi and George Patridge as new cabinet ministers, effective immediately, as part of a government restructuring.
Mbilizi leads the consolidated Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development, while Patridge heads the newly formed Ministry of Industrialisation, Business, Trade and Tourism.
The move, authorized under Malawi’s Constitution, consolidates five previous ministries into two to improve efficiency and reduce redundancy.
Both appointees bring significant experience—Mbilizi from the Malawi Revenue Authority and Patridge from the private sector—aimed at boosting agricultural productivity, industrial growth, and economic recovery.
The changes reflect a broader effort to strengthen governance and drive national development.
