A Louisiana man was charged for allegedly supporting Hamas and lying on his visa application.
A Louisiana man, Mahmoud Amin Ya’qub al-Muhtadi, 33, has been charged in federal court with providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization and visa fraud related to the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led attack on Israel.
Prosecutors allege he was linked to the armed wing of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, participated in attacks on Kfar Aza, and used a Gaza-based phone to coordinate fighters during the assault.
He entered the U.S. in September 2024 on an immigrant visa, falsely denying paramilitary ties on his application.
Authorities say he lived in Tulsa and Lafayette, working at a restaurant, and was arrested in October 2025.
The case is part of a Justice Department task force targeting individuals involved in the attack.
