Liberia's president dismisses top health officials, appointing an interim director amid a government reorganization.
President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has dismissed Dr. Dougbeh Chris Nyan and Dr. Adams K. Lincoln from top roles at Liberia’s National Public Health Institute (NPHIL), appointing Dr. Sia Wata Camanor as interim Director General.
The change, announced October 16, 2025, is part of a broader government reorganization aimed at improving leadership and efficiency.
No specific reasons were given for the dismissals, sparking concern from opposition lawmaker Rep. Musa Hassan Bility, who criticized the lack of transparency and warned the move could undermine public health stability.
The Executive Mansion said Camanor will lead NPHIL pending a permanent appointment, working with health agencies and partners to maintain institutional effectiveness.
