Liberian dockworkers won major pay and benefit gains, including doubled education aid and early retirement, in a landmark deal.
Dockworkers at Liberia’s Freeport of Monrovia have won a landmark collective bargaining agreement with APM Terminals Liberia, securing a 100% increase in educational aid, 50% higher transportation and food allowances, service-based bonuses, and early retirement for workers aged 50 with over 10 years of service.
The deal, backed by the International Transport Workers’ Federation, marks a major victory for labor rights in West Africa and is seen as a model for future negotiations.
