Intesa Sanpaolo’s IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division has facilitated about $50 billion in U.S. transactions over the past three years, driven by strong growth in project finance and capital markets.
The New York-based unit, employing over 200 professionals, has backed major deals including a $3.4 billion Nevada data center, an $8.8 billion green energy transmission project, and airport financing at JFK.
Its U.S. activity has grown nearly 34% annually since 2018, outpacing the market.
In 2025, IMI CIB participated in over €30 billion of global project finance, accounting for about 15% of the market.
The division’s U.S. presence is bolstered by IMI Securities Corp., which links U.S. investors to European assets.
Fitch upgraded Intesa Sanpaolo’s credit rating to A- with a stable outlook, the first time it exceeds Italy’s sovereign rating.
