flag HAL launched the Tejas Mark 1A fighter jet from its new Nashik facility, activating a third production line as part of India’s push for defense self-reliance.

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) launched the maiden flight of the Tejas Mark 1A fighter jet from its new Nashik facility, marking the activation of a third production line with an annual capacity of eight aircraft. The event, attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, also saw the inauguration of a second production line for the HTT-40 trainer. The Tejas Mk1A, featuring advanced radar, electronic warfare systems, and indigenous weapons, is part of a ₹62,370 crore order for 97 jets. Despite delays from GE Aerospace engine deliveries, HAL aims to boost output to 30 aircraft annually by 2027, supporting India’s defense self-reliance goals.
