French police arrested four men, including a French citizen and Dagestani nationals, over a suspected plot to assassinate Russian dissident Vladimir Osechkin in Biarritz.
French authorities have arrested four men, aged 26 to 38, including one French national and others from Dagestan, over a suspected assassination plot against Vladimir Osechkin, a Russian dissident and founder of Gulagu.net, which exposes prison abuses in Russia.
The suspects were charged with forming a terrorist group with intent to commit violence.
Osechkin, living in exile in Biarritz, said he was targeted and credited French counter-terrorism services with preventing an attack.
The investigation began in September after surveillance footage and prior threats, including a red dot sighting, were uncovered.
The case remains ongoing.
