Former teacher sentenced to 24 years for using fake social media accounts to solicit explicit images from minors, including a student.
Former Sioux Falls middle school teacher Justin Preuschl was sentenced to 24 years and 3 months in federal prison for using TikTok and Snapchat to solicit explicit images from minors, including at least one student, via fake accounts and false relationships.
He admitted to coercing a 13-year-old into sending photos and offering money to multiple minors.
Preuschl pleaded guilty in July to eight federal charges, including production of child sexual abuse material, leading to dismissal of nearly 30 other charges.
Prosecutors believe he may have targeted up to 40 children, though not all victims are identified.
As part of his sentence, he must register as a sex offender, submit DNA, pay $1,800 in fines, forfeit his phone, and was taken into custody immediately on October 15, 2025.
