FMC expands Xyway fungicide use to V6 stage for better corn disease control and yield.
In 2025, corn growers faced earlier and more severe outbreaks of diseases like southern rust, tar spot, and gray leaf spot, prompting FMC to expand the use of its Xyway fungicide to include side-dress applications up to the V6 growth stage.
This change allows growers without at-plant options to apply the fungicide during nitrogen passes, improving flexibility in response to unpredictable disease pressure.
Xyway, which uses flutriafol absorbed by roots and transported through the plant’s xylem, provides systemic, long-lasting protection into the R3 stage.
Research shows it boosts plant health, improves root development and nutrient uptake, and delivers consistent yield gains of 6 to 9 bushels per acre, with up to 93-bushel advantages in high-pressure scenarios.
It can be applied off-row or via Y-drop, mixed with liquid fertilizer, and integrated into existing fertility programs.
