Emergency repairs on a 48-inch water pipeline at Karachi’s K-II pumping station were completed on Thursday, restoring water supply to affected areas including North Nazimabad, Gulberg, Liaquatabad, and Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The repair work, which began Tuesday and involved replacing a damaged valve, caused a 150 million gallons per day shortfall, reducing the city’s total supply to 500 MGD. Four pumps were temporarily shut down during the operation. The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation confirmed full restoration of services, though some residents waited up to 24 more hours for water to return. The outage, initially expected to last 48 hours, exposed ongoing infrastructure and management challenges.
