An 11-year-old girl recovering from brain cancer leads a UK campaign to send comfort kits to children battling cancer.
An 11-year-old girl from Carlisle, Ivy Walsh, is leading a national Christmas campaign for Cancer Support UK after being diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2024.
She underwent surgery and a 70-week chemotherapy course, receiving a Kids’ Cancer Kit that included a sensory Warmies dog named Hazel, which provided comfort during treatment.
Now in recovery, Ivy is helping raise funds for the 2025 Fill a Kit appeal to send similar comfort kits—containing toys, socks, and heatable items—to children facing cancer, especially during the holidays.
The charity aims to ease the emotional and physical burden of hospital stays, as around 1,900 UK children under 15 are diagnosed with cancer each year.
Despite improved survival rates, many face long-term challenges, and the campaign encourages public donations to bring moments of joy to affected families.
