A 42-year-old Goose Creek man, Quentin Roderick Reid, has been arrested and faces over 100 charges after more than 50 dogs were found in severe neglect and conditions linked to dogfighting at his home.
Authorities, prompted by a July tip, discovered the animals in unsanitary conditions with fight-related injuries, along with evidence of drug trafficking and illegal firearms.
Investigators seized over 118 pounds of marijuana, narcotics, stolen and unregistered guns, and nearly $4,000 in cash.
The dogs were rescued by the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office and the ASPCA, with four needing emergency care.
Reid is held on animal cruelty, drug, and weapons charges, and the investigation continues.
