Saskatchewan’s McIlvenna Bay Mine, the province’s first new copper mine in nearly 30 years, is 60% complete and on track for commercial production by mid-2026.
The $1 billion project, located near Creighton, will produce copper, gold, zinc, and silver over 18 years and is part of a provincial strategy to double critical mineral output by 2030.
Backed by federal and provincial support, including expedited approvals under Bill C-5, the mine will use green electricity and battery-powered equipment to minimize environmental impact.
It is expected to create sustainable jobs, including opportunities for the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation, and strengthen Canada’s position in the global critical minerals supply chain.
