Saipem and BOS Shelf won a $600 million contract to build subsea pipelines and a compression platform for Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz project, with first gas expected in 2029.
Saipem, in a joint venture with BOS Shelf, has won a $600 million offshore contract for Azerbaijan’s $2.9 billion Shah Deniz Compression project, part of a $700 million total awarded.
The work includes building and installing 26 kilometers of subsea pipelines and a 19,000-ton, unmanned electric compression platform 3 kilometers from the Shah Deniz Bravo platform in 85 meters of water.
Offshore construction, starting in Q3 2026 using two vessels operated by Saipem, will support gas compression from both Alpha and Bravo platforms, with first gas expected in 2029 and 2030.
The project aims to recover an additional 50 billion cubic meters of gas and 25 million barrels of condensate, boosting production beyond 77.2 million cubic meters per day.
Completion is targeted for 2029.
