A raccoon with rabies entered a Baltimore school on Oct. 14; no one was harmed, but the area is closed for cleaning.

A raccoon that entered Fallstaff Elementary/Middle School in Baltimore on October 14 tested positive for rabies, health officials confirmed. The animal was seen during dismissal, entered through an open door, and was safely contained by staff until Animal Control arrived. No one was bitten or injured, but the health department urges anyone who may have encountered the raccoon to contact them at 410-396-4436. The affected area is closed for cleaning, while the rest of the school remains open. Officials are coordinating with state health authorities and will provide updates to the school community.
