Senior officials from over 20 Belt and Road Initiative partners met in Shanghai to boost agricultural trade and food safety cooperation with China, focusing on supply chain resilience, job creation, and food security. China’s food trade with BRI nations reached $128.45 billion in the first nine months of 2025, a 2.5% rise, with BRI imports making up 69.1% of China’s total agricultural imports. Over 100 cooperation agreements were signed, including 70+ on market access. Countries like Cambodia and South Africa highlighted export opportunities in tropical fruits, spices, and cashews, while cities like Kunshan are emerging as key distribution hubs, driven by rising demand for specialty coffee and other BRI agricultural products.
