A new HART Hub opens Nov. 3 in Sarnia, offering vital services to homeless, mentally ill, and addicted residents.
A HART Hub is set to open November 3 in Sarnia, Ontario, as part of a provincial pilot project funding $5 million annually for three years.
The hub at 210 Lochiel Street will offer drop-in services including showers, meals, mental health support, addiction resources, housing assistance, and employment services, replacing daytime operations from a former overflow shelter.
It will not provide overnight accommodations but will connect individuals to transitional recovery beds and supportive housing.
The initiative, led by CMHA Lambton Kent with partners including Bluewater Health and Lambton County, aims to reduce barriers to care for people experiencing homelessness, addiction, and mental health challenges.
Nearly 80% of the region’s homeless population reports substance use, and two-thirds face mental health issues.
The project includes expanded mobile outreach and is designed to integrate services to support recovery and long-term stability.
