A Clackamas County jury has convicted 53-year-old Chad Michael Westover of second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon in the September 21, 2024, stabbing death of off-duty postal worker Tristan Thomas in Hillsboro.
The attack followed a dispute between Thomas and a neighbor, Christopher Stewart, which escalated that night when Stewart, Westover, and Stewart’s teenage daughter confronted Thomas outside his apartment.
Video footage and a 911 call captured Westover stabbing Thomas multiple times, resulting in a fatal 4-inch wound to his neck artery.
Thomas died on October 3, 2024.
Westover fled the scene, was arrested on September 26 at an Oregon City post office claiming a motorcycle crash, and remains jailed without bail.
His cousin, Samantha Christensen, faces separate charges for evidence tampering.
Westover’s trial concluded on October 15, 2025, with the jury acquitting him of evidence tampering.
