The IOPC launched 10 new probes into South Yorkshire Police over failures to protect children from abuse in the 2000s.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct has launched 10 new investigations into South Yorkshire Police’s handling of historic child sexual abuse cases in Rotherham, following complaints from women who say police failed to protect them as children despite knowing about abusers.
The allegations, mostly from the early 2000s, involve known perpetrators not being properly investigated.
The complaints were referred by the force between July and September 2025 and submitted by Switalskis Solicitors.
The IOPC emphasized the need for thorough, transparent inquiries to ensure accountability and support for survivors, while South Yorkshire Police acknowledged past failures and pledged full cooperation.
