On October 15, 2025, Ghana’s Energy Minister John Abdulai Jinapor announced the repeal and replacement of the 2005 National Petroleum Authority Act to modernize the downstream petroleum sector.
The reform, driven by consultations with stakeholders, aims to strengthen regulatory capacity, promote integrity, and align Ghana’s energy governance with global standards.
The minister praised the NPA’s role in ensuring energy stability, enforcing safety, monitoring prices, and protecting consumers, while affirming ongoing support for institutional development, staff training, and policy updates.
