Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced improved water quality in the Yamuna River, noting that aquatic life now thrives there—unlike in the past when even mosquitoes struggled to survive—citing government efforts as key to the transformation.
Ahead of the Chhath festival starting October 25, she inspected the Kalindi Kunj ghat, while Minister Kapil Mishra confirmed preparations at 1,300 ghats, including new structures, and defended the festival’s return to the riverbank after a prior ban.
The Supreme Court also permitted limited use of green firecrackers in Delhi-NCR from October 18 to 20, restricting bursts to specific hours to balance tradition and environmental concerns.
