Critchfield Meats opened a new 53,000-square-foot processing and distribution facility in Lexington, expanding its wholesale operations and doubling production capacity.
The facility, located in the former God’s Pantry building on Jaggie Fox Way, began operations in early June and has already added eight jobs.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by state and local officials, including Lt. Gov.
Jacqueline Coleman and Mayor Linda Gorton.
The expansion supports regional food security and local producers but won’t affect rising beef prices, which remain high due to historically low cattle herds and population growth.
