Britain unveils new standardized railway clocks to replace varied post-privatization designs.
A new national clock design for Britain’s railways has been unveiled at London Bridge station, marking the first standardized timepiece since 1974.
The 1.8-meter digital clock, featuring the railway’s double arrow symbol, was selected from over 100 entries and developed with accessibility experts to improve readability.
It will be used on digital departure boards at major stations nationwide, replacing the varied styles that emerged after rail privatisation in 1996.
Network Rail and officials say the clock symbolises punctuality and unites the network’s heritage with its future, with the design created by Design Bridge and Partners.
