An 18-year-old man was shot and killed by a Columbus cop during a robbery response near OSU; a gun was found at the scene.
An 18-year-old man, TaShawn M. Davis, was fatally shot by a Columbus police officer early Sunday morning near Ohio State University after being suspected in a gunpoint robbery.
Officers responded to a report at 3:36 a.m. on North High Street and East 8th Avenue, where a victim said they were robbed at gunpoint.
The officer, a 14-year veteran not named due to Marsy’s Law, identified Davis, ordered him to stop, and fired multiple shots after claiming Davis had a firearm and fled.
Davis, who turned 18 just over a week prior, died at 3:56 a.m. A gun was recovered at the scene.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is leading the probe, and body camera footage is expected to be released.
The incident is under review amid a series of recent police shootings in central Ohio.
