A 13-year-old girl died in a Nebraska crash Monday when a left-turning car was hit by a semi-truck.
A 13-year-old girl died in a two-vehicle crash Monday at the intersection of Highways 6/34 and 44 in Kearney County, Nebraska, around 12:40 p.m.
The 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by 17-year-old Guadalupe Solorio of Santa Fe, New Mexico, was turning left onto Highway 44 when it was struck by a westbound 2019 Peterbilt semi-truck towing an empty tanker trailer operated by 60-year-old Daniel Shoemaker of O'Neill.
The girl, a passenger, was airlifted to CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney and pronounced dead.
Both drivers were treated and released, and all occupants were wearing seat belts.
The crash is under investigation by multiple agencies, including the Kearney County Sheriff’s Office, Nebraska State Patrol, and Kearney County Attorney’s Office.
