The Yankees are firing bullpen and infield coaches after a poor 2025 season and ALDS exit.
The New York Yankees are not retaining bullpen coach Mike Harkey or first base/infield coach Travis Chapman for the 2026 season, following a disappointing 2025 campaign in which the bullpen posted a 4.37 ERA and ranked 23rd in MLB despite strong strikeout numbers. Chapman’s infield defense also regressed, particularly at shortstop with Anthony Volpe’s decline. The team is promoting hitting coordinator Jake Hirst and considering other changes, including hitting coach James Rowson reportedly interviewing for the Twins’ managerial job. The overhaul comes after an ALDS exit to the Blue Jays.
