West Wits Mining Ltd has started mining at its Qala Shallows gold project in South Africa’s Witwatersrand Basin, marking its shift from exploration to production.
The project, located in a historically significant gold region, has produced its first underground ore and is ramping up production from 15,000 to 65,000 tonnes of ore per month over three years.
With a 10.7 million tonne resource grading 2.98 g/t, the mine is projected to produce 70,000 ounces annually for 12 years, generating $983 million in post-tax free cash flow at a conservative gold price of $2,850 per ounce.
All-in sustaining costs are estimated at $1,289 per ounce, among the lowest globally.
The company is well-funded with $17.7 million in equity, a $12.5 million loan, and a pending $50 million syndicated facility, enabling full development without further capital raises.
