Susan D. Harvey, 76, of Vero Beach, was sentenced to three years in prison and 10 years of probation on October 14, 2025, for a December 2021 DUI crash during a Christmas parade that killed Mary Berrigan and injured her husband, John. Harvey, who pleaded no contest to DUI, DUI manslaughter, and leaving the scene, was ordered to surrender her license permanently, avoid alcohol and alcohol-serving establishments, and not contact the victims’ family. The crash occurred on Ocean Drive after a parade, and a crowd helped prevent her from fleeing. The victim’s family said they forgave her.
