Supreme Court delays decision on Sahara’s plan to sell 88 properties to repay investors.
The Supreme Court has asked the Centre and SEBI to respond by November 17 on Sahara India’s plea to sell 88 properties to Adani Properties to repay investors.
The court directed the Ministries of Finance and Cooperation to join the case, appointed amicus curiae Shekhar Naphade to assess property claims, and ordered Sahara to address unpaid worker salaries.
The sale, if approved, must follow rules requiring prices at least 90% of market value.
The case stems from a 2010 SEBI order blocking Sahara’s OFCDs and a 2012 Supreme Court directive for refunds of over ₹24,000 crore.
Sahara says it has deposited ₹16,000 crore but alleges SEBI has not distributed funds.
The court will decide whether to allow individual or group sales.
