Scania has opened its first fully foreign-owned truck factory in Rugao, China, on October 15, 2025, marking a major expansion in its global strategy.
The €2 billion facility, spanning 800,000 square meters, will produce 50,000 vehicles annually and serve domestic and export markets.
Designed with sustainability in mind, it will run mostly on renewable energy.
The site includes R&D centers and will launch Scania’s NEXT ERA truck line for China’s long-haul transport sector, with deliveries starting in late 2025.
The move strengthens Scania’s local presence, supply chain agility, and innovation capacity in Asia.
